Once again we celebrate the birth of
Jesus Christ. The eternal verb that exists since
the beginning of time is made flesh by the Holy
Spirit in the Virgin Mary. St. Luke and St. Matthew
are the only authors who narrate this event in
detail (Lk 2: 1-20 and Mt 1, 18-25). The birth of
Christ has an immediate human circumstance.
Cesar Agusto gives the order to register in his
hometown it is clear that Palestine is under Roman
occupation. The people of Israel awaited
the messiah as a King David-style king, for
prophecies heralded that the messiah would be
born from David's lineage. There was another
very small group waiting for the messiah who
would save the world from their sins. Among
these people was Maria of Nazareth and her
husband Joseph, descendant of David. This
date was so important that it was remembered
by the early Christians and transmitted in such a
way that until our days it is still celebrated.
The gospel also teaches us that some
shepherds and wise men were warned by an
angel to go to see the newborn king. The wise
men of the East brought him gold, incense and
myrrh. Gold for the king, incense for God, and
myrrh for man. They perfectly recognized the
triple dimension of the messiah while we often
only recognize the divinity of Christ because we
believe him so far because he is in heaven; others
consider him a mere human being with special
powers and others do not recognize his
reign because they want to live far from his
commandments. This Christmas many will celebrate
it, but they will actually celebrate themselves
because they will end up in drunkenness,
fights, drugs and talking about politics rather
than meditating deeply on this mystery that
brought us freedom. These are times of reconciliation,
times of planning, times to restructure,
and times to be loved by God. Happy Nativity

Una vez más celebramos el nacimiento
de Jesucristo. El verbo eterno que existe desde
el principio de los tiempos se hace carne por el
Espíritu Santo en la Virgen Maria. San Lucas y
San Mateo son los únicos autores que narran a
detalle este acontecimiento (Lc 2, 1-20 y Mt 1,
18-25). El nacimiento de Cristo tiene una circunstancia
humana inmediata. Cesar Agusto
da la orden de empadronarse en su ciudad natal
es evidente que Palestina está bajo la ocupación
Romana. El pueblo de Israel esperaba al
mesías como un rey al estilo del Rey David, ya
que las profecías anunciaban que del linaje de
David nacería el mesías. Había otro grupo muy
reducido que esperaba al mesías que salvaría
al mundo de sus pecados. Entre esas personas
estaba Maria de Nazaret y su esposo José, descendiente
de David. Esta fecha fue tan importante
que lo recordaron los primeros cristianos y
se transmitió de tal forma que hasta nuestras
fechas se sigue celebrando.
También el Evangelio nos enseña que
unos pastores y unos sabios fueron avisados por
un ángel para que fueran a ver al rey recién
nacido. Los sabios de Oriente le llevaron oro,
incienso y mirra. Oro para el rey, incienso para
Dios, y mirra para el hombre. Ellos reconocieron
perfectamente la triple dimensión del mesías
mientras que nosotros muchas veces solo reconocemos
la divinidad de Cristo porque lo creemos
tan lejos porque está en el cielo; otros lo
consideran un simple ser humano con poderes
especiales y otros no reconocen su reinado porque
quieren vivir lejos de sus mandamientos.
Esta navidad muchos la celebraran, pero en
realidad se celebrarán a sí mismos porque terminaran
en borracheras, peleas, drogas y hablando
de política en lugar de meditar profundamente
sobre este misterio que nos trajo libertad.
Son tiempos de reconciliación, tiempos de
planear, tiempos de reestructurarse y tiempos
para dejarse amar por Dios. Feliz Natividad a
