Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
As many of you already know, our Diocese of San Bernardino is entering a period of transition. Next June, when our Bishop, Bishop Gerald Barnes reach-es the age of 75, he will have to submit to the Holy Father his letter of resignation. This is a requirement of Church law. As a part of the Episcopal Transition, we will soon be receiving a Coadjutor Bishop who will spend the year working with Bishop Barnes un-til he retires next June 2020. Our responsibility at this moment, is to unite in prayer so that God sends us the Bishop that will be right for our Diocese. Please join me in offering this prayer for a Coadjutor Bishop. In mass, every first Sunday of the month we will say this prayer together instead of the Anima Cristi.
Prayer for Coadjutor Bishop
Loving God, we humbly seek your guidance and strength as we embark upon a sacred season of change and transition in the Diocese of San Bernar-dino.
Direct your Holy Spirit to send into our midst a Co-adjutor Bishop to walk alongside Bishop Barnes in shepherding the clergy, religious sisters and broth-ers, and all the lay faithful of the Diocese in the im-age of Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
In Sacred Scriptures it is said, there is an appointed time for everything. During this appointed time of transition help us place our trust in your infinite love and wisdom. May we remain grateful for the countless blessings we have received, and journey always forward in joyful hope.
We entrust ourselves to the maternal love of Our Lady of Guadalupe and to the intercession of Saint Bernardine of Siena, Patron Saints of the Diocese of San Bernardino.
We ask all things through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Transición Episcopal
Queridos hermanos en Cristo,
Como muchos de ustedes ya saben, nuestra Diócesis de San Bernardino esta entrando a una etapa de tran-sición. El próximo mes de junio, cuando nuestro Obispo Gerald Barnes llegue a la edad de 75 años, tendrá que entregar su carta de resignación al Papa. Este es un requerimiento por la ley de la Iglesia. Co-mo parte de esta Transición Episcopal, pronto recibi-remos a un Obispo Coadjutor quien estará trabajan-do con el Obispo Barnes hasta junio del 2020 cuando el ya se retire. Nuestra responsabilidad en este mo-mento es de unirnos en oración para que Dios nos envié el Obispo correcto para las necesidades de nuestra diócesis. Acompáñenme en ofrecer esta ora-ción para el Obispo Coadjutor. En la misa, el primer Domingo de cada mes rezaremos esta oración juntos en vez del Anima Cristi.
Oracion para el Obispo Coadjutor
Dios de amor, pedimos humildemente tu guia y For-taleza al embarcarnos en este tiempo sagrado de cambio y transicion en la Diocesis de san Bernardino. Que tu Espiritu Santo envie en medio de nosotros un Obispo Coadjutor que camine junto al Obispo Barnes para que, imitando a Jesus el Buen Pastor, guien al clero, a las religiosas, religiosos y a todos los fieles laicos de nuestra Diocesis.
En las Sagradas Escrituras se dice que todo tiene su momento y cada cosa su tiempo bajo el cielo. Duran-te este tiempo especial de transicion, ayudanos a poner nuestra confianza en tu infinita sabiduria y amor. Que nos sintamos agradecidos por las innu-merables bendiciones que hemos recibido y contin-uemos siempre adelante con esperanza gozosa. Nos encomendamos al amor maternal de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe y a la intercession de San Ber-nardino de Siena, santos patronos de la Diocesis de San Bernardino.
Todo esto te lo pedimos por Jesucristo nuestro Señor.
