The third Sunday of Advent is called "Sunday of Gaudete", or of joy, by the first word of the introductory sentence of the Mass: Gaudete, that is, rejoice. On this date, pink clothing is allowed as a sign of joy, and the Church invites the faithful to rejoice because the Lord is already near. In the Advent Crown lights the third flame, the pink candle. There are two Sundays in the year that are allowed to wear the pink color in the vestement and these are the fourth Sunday of Lent (laetare) and the third Sunday of Advent (gaudete) because in the midst of the "wait", it is remembered that the joy of Easter or Christmas is coming, respectively. A pink candle is also usually lit on the Advent crown.
We live in a world where emotions rule entire peoples, joy has been devalued to a simple and ephemeral explosion of superficial emotions, like a kind of anesthesia that soothes pain; a kind of makeup that only momentarily hides what we don't want them to see in us from our real appearance. We want to present joy as a mask or prosthesis that we have to buy or manufacture, ignoring that true joy is the result of having passed the trials of life, guided by the Word of the Lord and the Sacraments. It is very urgent to evangelize, because every day there are more people depressed, people divided and marginalized by injustices. Victims of violence have become victims, acting more savagely than their aggressors. Parents kill their children and children kill their parents. May the Blessed Virgin Mary lead us to true joy. Mary, Virgin of the Magnificat, pray for us.

El tercer domingo de Adviento es llamado “domingo de gaudete”, o de la alegría, por la primera palabra de la frase introductoria de la Misa: Gaudete, es decir, regocíjense. En esta fecha se permite la vestimenta color rosa como signo de gozo, y la Iglesia invita a los fieles a alegrarse porque ya está cerca el Señor. En la Corona de Adviento se enciende la tercera llama, la vela rosada. Hay dos domingos en el año que se permite usar el color rosa en la vestimenta y estos son el cuarto domingo de Cuaresma (laetare) y el tercer domingo de Adviento (gaudete) porque en medio de la “espera”, se recuerda que ya está próxima la alegría de la Pascua o de la Navidad, respectivamente. En la corona de Adviento también se suele encender una vela rosada.
Vivimos en un mundo donde las emociones gobiernan pueblos enteros, la alegría se ha devaluado a una simple y efímera explosión de emociones superficiales, como una especie de anestesia que calma el dolor; una especie de maquillaje que sólo oculta momentáneamente lo que no queremos que vean en nosotros de nuestra apariencia real. Queremos presentar a la alegría como una máscara o prótesis que tenemos que comprar o fabricar, ignorando que la verdadera alegría es el resultado de haber superado las pruebas de la vida, guiados por la Palabra del Señor y los Sacramentos. Es muy urgente evangelizar, porque cada día son más las personas deprimidas, las personas divididas y marginadas por las injusticias. Las víctimas de violencia se han convertido en victimarios, actuando más salvajemente que sus agresores. Los padres matan a sus hijos y los hijos matan a sus padres. Que la Santísima Virgen María nos conduzca hasta la a alegría verdadera. María, Virgen del Magnificat, ruega por nosotros.
